A Dream Honeymoon In Tahiti — 21 Comments

  1. Dream honeymoon or wait until the first anniversary?
I am basically broke. But I could put a honeymoon on a credit card and pay it back. Should I purchase a fantasy honeymoon to Tahiti or stay at a small hotel near the beach in long Island?

  2. Don’t start your marriage in debt–wait until you and your new spouse can AFFORD a luxury honeymoon.

Remember that a romantic honeymoon doesn’t require an exotic location. Save your money if you want one, but you don’t NEED one.

  4. we decided to go to disney and save our dream honeymoon to japan when we were financially a little more stable. money is tight right after you get married and can lead to fights so just focus more on your union for now. besides, it is no fun going on vacation and worrying about every purchase

  5. For our honeymoon we stayed at a hotel in a nearby town and just did the touristy stuff for the weekend. It was way cheaper and it didn’t put us in debt before the ink was dry on the marraige license. Then we started saving for a fantasy vacation for when we could really use the time away and fresh beginning.

  6. One thing you could do, there are several websites where instead of presents you could have people pay for our honey moon.

I’m sorry I honestly don’t know any of the websites as I haven’t gotten there yet, but some of my clients have done it and didn’t have to pay hardly anything for their honeymoon.

If you can’t figure that out, I wouldn’t rack up the credit cards. I am currently getting out of a bad credit card situation for something similar. The interest rates are crazy. I would wait and go to like Santorini or some fabulous vacaton in a year for the anniversary.

  7. Ugh-debt is ugly. Nothing kills a romance faster than debt. The only time a person should carry debt on a credit card is when the rate of return of using that money covers the interest payments you are making. As an example, you take $5,000 out on your credit card at a 15% interest rate, knowing that you can earn a higher rate of return: more than 15% by using the money elsewhere. Save the grand honeymoon for when you have more available cash, and enjoy each other on a budget now.

  10. This is your honeymoon. Do NOT use a credit card for an event like this. You’ll be too worried throughout, scared about every little expense you make knowing you will have to pay it back. Then, there’s the worry of HOW you’re going to pay it back, etc. Additionally, many credit card companies add interest so you don’t want you go into debt at the begining of your new life either. You guys can have a simple and elegant honeymoon this time. When both you and your husband are financially stable (be it next year or three years from now), you will be able to indulge yourselves without worrying about the money…and it will be worth the wait! : )

Whatever decision you come to, good luck and congratulations! : )

  13. Wait for the dream honeymoon. Why go into debt right off the bat when getting married. I have been married two years and we didn’t take a honeymoon, we put any money towards the house we bought. Use the money for things that will last not a single trip. You can always go later. A honeymoon just needs the two people, not the scenery.

Have an economical but worry-free weekend away. Then wait for the next opportunity. It might be sooner than you think (maybe a raise, etc), but it will be better for sure.
