Why must "suits" be worn on beaches in the USA?

Any place I’ve been in the world except Saudi Arabia, Iran and Indonesia do not require people to wear "bathing suits" like in USA. Even in Muslim countries Egypt and our neighbor Canada it is legal for women to go topless. Is because of the Puritan influence still ahold in the US or do the manufacturers of bathing suits keep these archaic laws on the books to sell more suits?

Actually the laws against topless sunbathing are state laws. There is no Federal law against it, and on a beach in my area within a National Park system nude sunbathing is allowed in designated areas.

Is USA the last Western country to forbid women to breast feed in public or be topless on a beach?

I saw women breast feeding in public in Cairo Egypt and many topless women on Egyptian beaches so it seems even some Muslim-dominated countries are culturally less prudish than the Puritan USA.

The hypocrisy of the US in regards to sex still astonishes me. I used to live next to Valley Forge National Monument Park, and the Rangers, US Dept of the Interior employees, used to ride horses and uses remote cameras and advanced optics (paid for by the taxpayer) to crack down on local lasses who had the nerve to go down into one of the hollows (depressions, or folds in the land) to sunbathe topless! No bare breasts there, by God! Thousands of dollars and hundreds of man-hours to prevent the occasional glimpse of nipple!

My family and I are planning a summer vacation and we’d like to go somewhere warm,sunny and wet so my husband suggested a beach, but we don’t know where to go. We live near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and we’d like to go somewhere with some sort of campground near walking distance to the beach, resterants near by, and clean. Cost or location does not matter as long as it’s along the east cost. We went to lake erie last summer and it was very dirty. Thank you all who take the time to answer and happy holidays!

Hilton Head, south carolina is great. It would be more for a family that likes to camp and the outdoors.

Myrtle Beach is nice too, but it is way more built up than Hilton Head. It is busier and much more commercial.

Both are nice though!

These are venues that can take care of every little detail regarding your ceremony and reception. You’ll still need to attend to your personal needs. You’ll need to attend to the attire, wedding accessories and wedding gifts for each other, family, and wedding attendants.

SITES AVAILABLE on a RENTAL BASIS

Many wedding sites that are available on a rental basis. Some provide the space, others provide tables and chairs too, while still others provide linens, tableware, flatware and glassware as well. Were the people you spoke with helpful? Too helpful and eager?

Now, check the internet for local wedding sites and go to their websites.

Do you like the look and feel?

Does it provide you with the information you are looking for?

Does it show or tell about unique one-of-a-kind weddings?

Does it offer, Free wedding articles or Free wedding information?

Is the web site helpful?

Did you find a clearly posted name, address, phone and email contact?

If the answer is no to any of these questions, skip it and go to another web site.

Bookmark (favorite) the websites that are agreeable.

Place the brochures from facilities you visited in a folder until you are ready to choose a few favorites.

WHAT to EXPECT of the REPRESENTATIVE of the FACILITY YOU VISIT:

A business card of each person you may work with within the facility,

A brochure that explains what is offered and any exclusions, rules, regulations and options,

References,

A tour of the facility so you may check their amenities.

* If you plan not to include children in your reception, do not alienate guests who’d rather bring children than miss your wedding. You should provide a babysitting service for such guests.
