What area of Orlando has the best traffic/tolls driving into the city?
We are relocating from Indianapolis to Orlando for work reasons and have a few communities in mind. I will be working downtown and am trying to get advice on what side of town has the best commute into the city. Can someone tell me what side of town has the best/worst traffic and the best/worst tolls? We are looking North/Northeast, Southwest and Southeast. Also, can anyone tell me if there are any good communities East of the city? Thanks for your help!
Thanks for the great info. I will keep all advice in mind.

    Good evening
first off welcome to the orlando area. most area outside of orlando are very nice. our toll roads in the area offer a nice quick commute into the city from all areas. they have a toll transponder called e-pass or sunpass. its good on all the toll roads with in the state of Florida. traffic with in orlando is bad on I-4 between 3 and 7 and the 408 in bound in the mornings and outbound in the afternoons. I am more then willing to help you more as its hard to explain all in here. message me thru my profile.

For the most part you want to avoid any area that requires you to use I-4 to get around. Unfortunately all other roads are toll roads but its far better then the parking lot that I-4 is almost any hour of any day. Tolls are a part of life in Orlando that you just live with. Get a sunpass to put in your car and you get a discount on your tolls.

The east side of Orlando is ok but you will find a lot of college kids around b/c UCF is over there. East of the city the area to consider is Stoneybrook East.

Dr Phillips is a nice area in the southwest that you should also consider.

Don’t live in the North part. Too much traffic coming from Altamonte Springs area into Orlando. You should live near the Southwest part of Orlando such as International Drive, 528, I-4, and the Florida Turnpike. Easy way in and out of Orlando. Traffic is not as bad as most cities. Usually the worst traffic is from Conroy Road to the 408 (About 5 mile stretch on I-4).

Commute times from the SW Orange County to downtown is about 15 minutes to 25 minutes (this includes heavy traffic).
