If you are looking for an all inclusive place go to Playa del Carmen and look for Hotels in the Playacar area. Thats where the golf course is and its a gated community. The beach is amazing and safe. Fly into Cancun. It's just south of Cancun. The Mexican govt just paid to have all the beaches full restored (two category 5 hurricanes in 2005 had really damaged them). You will not believe how nice it is. I attached a link to an informational site with a lot of pictures for you. It's really a fun area. BTW, any drug activity is confined to the Northern part of Mexico mostly on the US border. The first poster does not know what he's talking about. The tourist areas are very safe. The Mexican govt takes your safety very seriously and that is why you will see them stop traffic on the freeway looking for any offenders. The Cartels and the government are in war and gun fights are appearing randomly all over the country.Especially the resort areas due that's where this people hang out, so be careful. I am a mexican american and have family in Monterrey that tell there's shootings everyday. But if you are going, the best beaches are the ones undiscovered by big american corp.
